Thrilling first win of the season for U18s

Town’s U18s completed a remarkable comeback against Birmingham to secure their first win of the season.

Corrie Ndaba. Albert Wilton and a double from second-half substitute Thomas Hughes gave Alan Lee’s side all three points.

Birmingham created a few half-chances in the early stages but were unable to threaten Town 'keeper Nick Hayes. Visiting striker Leo Brown headed over before volleying wide after some impressive play from his team-mates.

Town tried to counter and created one opportunity when a through ball was met by Jack Lankester. He surged through but an attempted chip was caught comfortably by the Birmingham 'keeper Adam Siviter.

Caolan Boyd-Muner then put Birmingham in front. His in-swinging free-kick from the right travelled all the way through and nestled in the bottom corner.

Chances then came in quick succession as Town's Ellis Murrell shot over and at the other end Jordan Clarke was unlucky as Hayes scrambled back to save his audacious lob.

The away side added a second on the half-hour mark. Boyd-Muner's looping corner seemed to avoid everyone and flew directly in.

After the restart Town clawed one back through an Ndaba header but Birmingham replied quickly through Jack Concannon to restore the two goal advantage.

Wilton reduced the arrears when he poked in a rebound following a good save from Siviter not long after the hour mark

Town then completed the comeback as Steven Cahill won possession and fed impact-sub Hughes who finished into the bottom corner.

And in the dying stages Hughes found a winner for Lee’s side. The striker rolled the opposing defender well and caught Siviter out with a curling effort that crept in at the far post.
