FA Cup winners and trophy back at Portman Road for Middlesbrough game on 40th anniversary of Wembley glory

Town’s final game of the season against Middlesbrough on Sunday, May 6 has been designated 78 Day at Portman Road.

Forty years to the day, Town beat Arsenal 1-0 to lift the FA Cup at Wembley for the first and so far only time.

Some of the Town players from that historic day, including Paul Mariner, John Wark, matchwinner Roger Osborne, Mick Mills and Kevin Beattie will be back at Portman Road for the Boro match.

A signing session with the Wembley heroes will take place in the FanZone in the morning, while the prestigious FA Cup trophy itself will also be at the Club on the day.

Supporters will be able to have their photo taken with the trophy in the FanZone, with all pictures downloadable at no cost from the Club’s Facebook account.

The 1978 players will also be introduced to the crowd on the pitch at half-time, with the FA Cup trophy again on show.

Kick-off against Middlesbrough is 12.30pm, with the FanZone open from 9am.
