Supporters outstanding says caretaker boss
Bryan Klug paid tribute to his players and the Town fans after Blues went down to defeat at Villa Park.
Lewis Grabban struck twice, with former Blue, Conor Hourihane, and Henri Lansbury also on target as Villa maintained their promotion challenge.
Town played the second-half with 10 men after Grant Ward was shown a straight red for a foul on Neil Taylor just before the break.
“That was a game-changing moment,” Town’s caretaker manager told iFollow Ipswich.
“There was no intent from Grant, he’s not like that but he could have hurt the player and I can see why the referee sent him off.
“The players are devastated but I can’t fault their effort. They kept going until the end. We had chances in the first-half and we were well in the game but going down to 10 men it was always going to be uphill from there.
“I have to thank the fans though. They were outstanding. There was a great atmosphere today and that was more like the Ipswich Town I know.
“I was a bit worried when it went to three and four but they stuck behind the team and hopefully that togetherness can be a base for whatever happens going forward.”
