Ipswich Town FC have launched their new mobile-first online retail store alongside new ePOS tills in all their retail store locations and a new retail stock management software solution.
The Club have invested in this new technology – including the cutting-edge Magento 2 platform, teaming up with experienced sports digital agency Reading Room to offer fans a much improved online shopping experience, with dramatically increased functionality. The new platforms across the retail department will allow the Club to offer a complete omni-channel experience with the exact same offers in store being able to be replicated across online platforms for the first time ever.
Touch Retail, the Club’s new ePOS partner, have extensive knowledge of stadium retailing – something that was key to their appointment at Portman Road. The latest touch-screen technology will assist the retail staff with speed of service over the busiest trading periods. A further recent upgrade of hardware means the store now accept and operate contactless payments alongside Apple pay and Android/Google pay.
With an ever increasing number of Ipswich Town FC fans choosing to access their shopping experience through wireless devices, the mobile-first approach will ensure they can search, browse and purchase official club merchandise however they choose to shop.
The new site provides fans with the opportunity to customise their replica kit on all devices, via the use of the bespoke, responsive kit-builder module. Further enhancements to the online shopping experience include a more detailed product selection filtering process, an intelligent product search facility and, for the first time, the option to pay by PayPal Express checkout.
Fans will have the ability to create product wish-lists, store multiple delivery addresses and leave product reviews for purchased items, all through their registered account. Improved product imagery, clearer product pages and simplified navigation all help to increase the fan experience.
Continuing the club’s long-lasting partnership with TeamCard, fans for the first time will be able to earn reward points and spend their reward points on merchandise via the new platform after registering their TeamCard number on their account.
Ipswich Town FC appointed Reading Room as its digital partner following a period of consultation with a number of potential parties.
Commenting on the partnership, Town’s Director of Retail Operations Lee Hyde said:
“Reading Room’s extensive development knowledge of the Magento platform, complex integration experience and track record of working with other professional football clubs, producing exceptional results were the critical factors.”
“We cannot wait to see the reaction of Ipswich Town FC fans and look forward to working on future enhancements to the site to ensure that we remain at the top of our game!”
Fans registering a new user account on the site before 5:00pm on Sunday 8th April will receive a 10% discount code to be used on their first order in addition to the huge price reductions already active across the site.
