Last time we met: Villa 2-0 Town 25.11.17
Albert Adomah scored twice for Villa when the sides last met in November. Town thought they had taken the lead through Joe Garner but his effort was disallowed after he was judged to have fouled Villa shot-stopper Sam Johnstone. Adomah then poked in the opener from Glenn Whelan’s cross in the 36th minute to give the hosts the lead at half-time. Blues threatened after the restart but Adam Webster and Garner both headed wide of the target from Martyn Waghorn crosses. Steve Bruce’s Villa sealed the three points when Adomah coolly dispatched Robert Snodgrass’ cross beyond Bartosz Bialkowski 23 minutes from time.

Previous meetings at Portman Road:
17.09.16 Town 0-0 Villa
23.03.02 Town 0-0 Villa
09.09.00 Town 1-2 Villa

One to watch: Jack Grealish
Grealish has been directly involved in a goal in each of his last three appearances (two goals, one assist) and now has three goals and five assists to his name this season. Scored a superb late volley against Cardiff earlier this month to secure an important three points and keep Villa’s chances of automatic promotion alive.

Could be the difference: Villa on the road
After winning consecutive away games against Sheffield Wednesday and Sunderland, Villa are without a win in their last three away from home.
