Last time we met: Town 2-0 Brentford 19.08.17
Goals from Martyn Waghorn and Joe Garner saw Town to a 2-0 victory when the sides last met at Portman Road in August. Brentford started the stronger team but conceded the opener as Waghorn swept the ball past ‘keeper Daniel Bentley against the run of play. The visitors came close to equalising but were denied twice by Bartosz Bialkowski before Nico Yennaris’ effort struck the crossbar. Six minutes after the break Garner’s header, which was confirmed by goalline technology, doubled Blues’ advantage, and Mick McCarthy’s men stood firm to secure all three points.

Previous meetings at Griffin Park:
13.08.16 Brentford 2-0 Town
08.08.15 Brentford 2-2 Town
26.12.14 Brentford 2-4 Town
11.08.99 Brentford 0-2 Town
30.01.67 Brentford 2-4 Town

One to watch: Neil Maupay
Maupay is Brentford’s joint-top scorer this campaign with 11 goals and five assists to his name. The striker has also scored more goals as a substitute than any other player in the Championship this term with six.

Could be the difference: Martyn Waghorn
No player has been directly involved in more Championship goals this season than Town’s Martyn Waghorn (14 goals, eight assists). The summer arrival was on the scoresheet against Millwall on Monday and will be looking to carry that momentum into this weekend’s clash.
