Brown seals win as U18s end season on positive note
Luca Vega, Armando Dobra and Kai Brown were on the scoresheet as Town U18s beat Huddersfield 3-1 at Playford Road.
Two goals in three minutes put Blues in control just after half-time, before Brown secured the three points with a header in the dying minutes.
Alan Lee’s side controlled possession in the opening stages and were unlucky not to be ahead when Ben Knight narrowly missed the target with a curling effort.
The visitors grew into the game and almost found the opener through Jeffrey Oredein but he fired wide after Town shot-stopper Mitchell Ware had denied Sam Shamrock-Peplow with a sharp save.
Blues were ahead three minutes after the restart as Vega converted at the near post following a Town corner.
The hosts then doubled their advantage with Dobra slicing through the Huddersfield defence and finishing into the bottom corner.
Huddersfield reduced the deficit in the 57th minute with Josh Austerfield rolling the ball into an empty net following a save from Ware.
Town faced some late pressure from the away side but put the result beyond doubt in added-on time when Brown was left free in the box and made no mistake with his header.
