Edwards aiming for success with Town and a Wales call-up to follow
Gwion Edwards is hoping to produce the form for Town this season that will lead to a call-up to Ryan Giggs’ Wales international squad.
The 25-year-old wide player marked his home debut for Blues with a goal after just five minutes in the 2-2 draw with Blackburn.
Capped at U21 level, he is one of three players from Wales at Portman Road - along with Emyr Huws and Ellis Harrison - and is targeting that first call-up.
“If I am playing well for Ipswich and scoring goals here, creating chances then hopefully that opportunity might come about,” said Gwion, speaking in an interview in Saturday’s matchday programme.
“There are plenty of players from the Championship who are involved for Wales.
“Emms has been in the squad, so yeah it’s definitely a target for me. I want to play as high as I can in club football and I want to play as high as I can for my country.”
Saturday’s matchday programme also features interviews with Kayden Jackson; Tayo Edun; Toto Nsiala and Trevoh Chalobah, as well as columns from Town boss Paul Hurst and skipper Luke Chambers.
