Nerves and excitement as first day of Championship football beckons for Paul
Paul Hurst says he will be a proud man when he steps out as Town manager for Saturday’s Championship opener against Blackburn at Portman Road.
Blues kick off a new era against Rovers with a crowd of approaching 19,000 expected.
“Last week’s pre-season game against West Ham whetted the appetite. It was a great crowd, a fantastic atmosphere and it was really nice to get the ovation I did. I want to thank the fans for that.
“I have felt pre-season has gone pretty quickly, perhaps because I’m new to the Club and getting to know people and trying to change a few things as well but these last couple of days have dragged a bit. You know the kick-off is coming. I just can’t wait to get going now.”
Cash turnstiles are open on the day but supporters are advised to get to the stadium early to avoid queues - or to buy tickets online or at Planet Blue in advance of matchday.
