Retro look on programme front proves a winner, with last few editions available
The front cover of the new matchday programme has proved to be a hit with Town fans.
Marking the 140th anniversary of Ipswich Town and 80 years as a Football League club, the cover blends the history with the modern day - with a combination of classic Town kits down the years but featuring today’s Blues.
Long time Town fan and season ticket holder, Marcus Parrott, came up with the concept, saying: “The idea behind the series 'Current Team, Classic Shirts' is to showcase the current team in the iconic shirts of yesteryear to help celebrate what is a historic year.
“I’m sure they will evoke memories for fans of all ages, whether it be great games in the Club's history, fantastic seasons or the players that have graced Portman Road over the years.
“I hope that the series will help to bring in the new era at Portman Road with Paul Hurst in charge, whilst also drawing on the rich heritage that both the Club and the supporters cherish.”
The cover is based on the style used in the 1961/62 season when Town became champions of England and Saturday’s programme sold out around the ground.
Town have sourced another 150 copies which are available for purchase in the Planet Blue store or by calling the retail mail order team on (01473) 400501. These will be sold on a first come, first served basis and will be posted out on the same day.
