'They will have big ambitions in this league' says Paul ahead of clash against Lampard's Derby
Paul Hurst is looking forward to the challenge of going up against a club he says has a lot of excitement around it at the moment.
Town take on a Derby side led by Frank Lampard, who is just four games into his managerial career, at Pride Park on Tuesday and the Blues boss is hoping to build on the performance against Aston Villa at the weekend.
“We are going to a club that just missed out in the Play-Offs last season, obviously have a new manager and there is a lot of excitement around that football club at the moment,” Paul told iFollow Ipswich.
“We’re really looking forward to challenging ourselves again though and hopefully we can put on another good performance against a club - like Aston Villa - that has big ambitions in this league.”
Derby have lost two of their three Championship games under Lampard so far but Paul added: “You can look at it that he has won a game and I’ve yet to do that!
“Frank’s made some different signings to what previous managers might have done and they’ve played some very good football - even in the defeats.
“Of course it will be a learning curve for him. No matter how many games you’ve played management will always be a different job.
“What I will say is that anyone that is judging him now is probably quite foolish. He deserves a chance and time to see if he can be as good as a manager as he was a player – because he was some player.”
The game is available to watch via live streaming on iFollow in the UK - price £10 - in addition to the normal overseas availability. Click on iFollow for full details.
