Boss wants to add to competition for places in two areas

Paul Hurst said he will use the loan window to strength his squad and has targeted two positions in particular.

The Town boss has brought in nine new faces since he took over in the summer, while last night Joe Garner followed Martyn Waghorn and Adam Webster out of the Club in a deadline day move to Wigan.

“I’m happy with the business we have done but I still feel we are not quite there yet,” Paul told iFollow Ipswich.

“We’ll be looking to utilise the loan window now and there are a couple of positions in particular that I think we need another player in to strengthen us until January and potentially beyond that.

“We need a squad that’s competitive and has plenty of cover for injuries and suspensions which are always inevitable in a tough season.

“The competition has been for upped for sure with the players we have brought in. Some players don’t like competition but I have always wanted that in my squad. Ultimately we are all striving for the same thing - success.”

The loan window closes on August 31.
