And praise for the supporters after Town share the points with Villa

Paul Hurst described his players as warriors after watching his team play for 50 minutes with 10 men against Aston Villa and earn a point.

Tayo Edun was dismissed for two bookings before half-time, with Trevoh Chalobah’s goal cancelling out Jonathan  Kodjia’s header.

“I am very proud to be manager of the team today,” the Town boss told iFollow Ipswich.

“The lads showed they were men out there. They played like warriors and although it’s a draw, it feels like a win given the circumstances.

“The second-half felt like two hours but I don’t think they created too many opportunities and we saw some players out there grow in confidence.

“I was delighted with them. It was a big challenge with 11 men but to go down to 10 and get a point - and I think we deserved it - the players can take a lot of credit for that.”

Paul also praised the Town fans for their part in getting right behind the team in adversity.

“The fans were absolutely superb. We talk about atmosphere and each time I have been here they have gone on to another level,” added the Town boss.

“They saw exactly what efforts the players were putting in and showed their appreciation for that.”
