Cole and Andre prove ace at supporting Elena charity
Cole Skuse and Andre Dozzell were at Ipswich Sports Club this afternoon to help promote the great work of the Elena Baltacha Foundation.
The Town midfield duo along with Andre’s dad and former Blue, Jason, took part in an interactive warm-up led by the Foundation coaches, before they got given the run around on court by children who are members of the Foundation!
The Foundation carries the name of Britain’s former number one women’s tennis player, who was also the daughter of ex-Town defender, Sergei Baltacha.
Elena, who remained a Town fan long after her dad left the Club in 1990, sadly passed away in May 2014 from liver cancer but the Foundation is there to provide opportunities for children of all backgrounds to play the game she loved.
The Foundation is also focused on promoting healthy lifestyle, exercise and nutrition through their educational programme. Today gave Cole and Andre the chance to learn more about the work the Foundation do in the community.
Cole said: “There is a fantastic link between the Club and the Foundation and Nino [Severino] is a great guy.
“He does a lot of work at the Academy and it’s great to come here today and promote the good work these guys are undertaking in the community. There are some very talented young players.”
The Foundation are hosting a matchday collection outside of Portman Road on Saturday against Aston Villa.
Andre added: “It’s great to see the kids’ smiling faces and if this event can help promote their work and also their collection at the game on Saturday, it’s the least we can do.”
