CHAMBO ON DIDZ RETURN

21 December 2018

McGoldrick one of the best in the Championship says skipper

Luke Chambers says it’s no coincidence that Sheffield United are challenging at the top of the table with David McGoldrick in their team.

The Republic of Ireland international joined the Blades as a free agent in the summer after leaving Portman Road following five years at the Club.

He hasn’t missed a game for Sheffield this season, bagging six goals and the Town skipper is fully aware of the threat he carries.

“David McGoldrick is a close friend of mine as well as being a team-mate here for five years and it’s no surprise to me to see him doing so well at Sheffield,” writes Chambo in his column in Saturday’s matchday programme.

“I was disappointed we couldn’t keep him here and but it looks as though he has really benefited from his move to Bramall Lane - and Sheffield have benefited from having him there.

“He is one of the best players in the Championship and it’s no coincidence that he is playing week in, week out and his team are at the top of the table.

“They have found a way of keeping him fit and if you have a fit David McGoldrick, you have a real quality player on your hands.”

Don’t miss Chambo’s straight-talking column in Saturday’s programme in which he speaks out against racism in football and abuse from the stands.
