Paul happy to share spoils against promotion chasing Blades

Paul Lambert said it was another step in the right direction as Town shared the spoils against promotion chasing Sheffield United.

Ellis Harrison’s 20 yarder gave Blues a first-half lead but Billy Sharp levelled things up with a header two minutes after the break.

“It was a good point for us against the best team I have seen in my short time here,” the Town boss told iFollow Ipswich.

“All credit to my own team as well. The application and desire of the players was fantastic and I can’t ask for anymore from them. It was another step in the right direction.

“We are a really young side and we’ve got a lot of players who have not played at this level before.

“We are a really inexperienced side against a very experienced side today. We had to be resolute, not just the back four but right across the team and we did that. Everyone did their job.

“It was a fantastic goal from Ellis. We pressed well and then Freddie passed it to Ellis and it’s an absolute wonder goal.

“Maybe we switched off a bit for their goal. It’s always about stopping the cross but as I said, it was a good point for us.”
