Paul hails resolute Blues after victory over Latics
Paul Lambert said the win over Wigan was one of Town’s best performances under him for ‘different reasons’.
Blues’ boss got his first victory since taking charge at Portman Road thanks to Freddie Sears’ fifth goal of the season midway through the second-half.
“We had control of the game in the first-half. They never really threatened us,” Paul told iFollow Ipswich.
“The second-half, we had to dig in and be resolute. Deano [Gerken] made a great save from the free-kick and we had to stand up to them but that’s part of the game.
“For those different reasons it was one of the best performances since I’ve been here.
“I’m pleased for the players. They haven't got what they have deserved before so it’s a big three points for us.
“The conditions were horrendous, with the wind but we still tried to play. I won’t be playing long ball football. That doesn’t interest me.
“The supporters were great again as well. The North Stand were relentless so I’m pleased for the fans. We have to go again next week now.”
