U23 | TOWN 3 QPR 3

10 December 2018

Blues show fighting qualities to earn a point at Playford Road

Teddy Bishop scored twice as Town's U23s drew 3-3 with QPR at Playford Road this afternoon.

The midfieler played 90 minutes, as did Andre Dozzell & Myles Kenlock, as Gerard Nash's side fell 2-0 and then 3-1 down against the R's.

Harry Wright was called into action early in the game to deny Ilias Chair before Barry Cotter hooked Lewis Walker's follow-up off the line as the visitors started well.

Danny Rowe came close with a deflected effort which struck the inside of the post and bounced clear but the game was goalless at half-time.

It didn't take long for the deadlock to be broken after the break as Town were dispossessed in a dangerous area and Sean Goss was slipped in before firing high into the net.

The lead was doubled on 56 with Aramide Oteh finding the net from the penalty spot after Myles Kenlock had brought down Paul Smyth.

The Blues were back in it 60 seconds later, though, with Osman Kakay turning the ball into his own net after Rowe had struck the woodwork for the second time in the game.

As the hosts pushed for a leveller, QPR broke away & restored their two-goal advantage. Smyth found the top corner with a cracking effort following a rapid counter attack.

Again, Town pulled themselves back into the game less than a minute later as Bishop got his first goal of the afternoon with a composed finish from the edge of the box.

A double substitution on 75 minutes saw the introduction of Shane McLoughlin & the Irishman was immediately involved in the action, winning the ball high up the pitch before squaring to Bishop who did well to score from close range.

Bishop came close to completing a hat-trick with 10 minutes to play with a drive from the edge of the box which was well saved by the R's 'keeper.

Wright was called into action again late on to keep the scores level & prevent Toto Nsiala from scoring an own-goal with a save from point blank range, but both sides had to settle for a point at Playford Road.
