Blues overcome Addicks at Playford Road
Town U23s beat Charlton Athletic 2-0 at Playford Road earlier today.
Goals from Conor McKendry (pictured) and Ben Folami secured the three points as Blues maintained their unbeaten home record this season.
Gerard Nash's side will head into the new year top of the Professional Development League Two South table after today's victory opened up a five point gap to second-placed QPR.
It wasn't until the 71st minute that McKendry opened the scoring with a superb curling strike, and Folami made sure of the win with a smart finish in the dying stages.
The Addicks threatened throughout but Blues shot-stopper Harry Wright was on hand to deny the away side, particularly on the hour mark when he superbly saved Reeco Hackett-Fairchild's low drive.
The U23s are next in action when they take on Bristol City at Playford Road on January 7 [kick-off 1pm].
Town: Wright, Cotter, Clements (Webber 88), McGavin, Marshall, Ndaba, McKendry (Hughes 92), Dobra, Folami, El Mizouni, Drinan (Brown 88).
