Mick hails deserved win and hopes players prove him wrong in Play-Off chase
Mick McCarthy was delighted with the performance as Town left Deepdale with a deserved three points thanks to Muzzy Carayol’s first goal for Blues.
The winger grabbed the only goal of the game in a first-half in which Blues created a series of chances, with the victory taking Town to within six points of the Play-Offs.
“It was akin to Norwich away except that we didn’t concede at the end,” the Town boss told iFollow Ipswich.
“We had better chances today though. We played really well in the first-half and had a lot of chances and should have been further ahead.
“We had to defend in the second-half but I don’t think Bart had too many saves to make. It was a really good performance from us and a really good result.
“Muzzy was a threat for us. He has really impressed me since he’s been at the Club and took his goal well.
“I’m annoyed really because we should have had three clean sheets over the last week. We let ourselves down at Norwich at the end, we had the handball against Cardiff so it was good to get our just rewards today.
“I did say that maybe the Play-Offs were out of reach and that may still be the case but I didn’t say we wouldn’t stop fighting for it. Does it take the pressure off the players? I don’t know. I have told them it’s probably out of reach. Let’s hope they prove me wrong.”
