Last time we met: Town 5-2 Sunderland 26/09/17
Town romped to a 5-2 win when the two sides last met in September. Martyn Waghorn, Jordan Spence, Bersant Celina, David McGoldrick and Grant Ward were all on the score sheet as Blues put on a show in front of the Portman Road crowd. Billy Jones and Aiden McGeady netted for the visitors but it was Mick McCarthy’s side who were in control throughout.

Previous meetings at Stadium of Light:

30.09.03 Sunderland 3-2 Town

18.08.01 Sunderland 1-0 Town

27.01.01 Sunderland 1-0 Town

One to watch: Ashley Fletcher
Sunderland’s deadline day signing, Ashley Fletcher, will be looking to make an immediate mark with the Black Cats and could be involved at the weekend. Fletcher is pedigree material having started his career with Manchester United, and could be just what Chris Coleman’s side need to avoid relegation this term.

Could be the difference: Mustapha Carayol
New recruit Muzzy is an experienced Championship campaigner and will be hoping to make a strong first impression for Blues at the weekend.
