Boss looking for Flynn to benefit from loan spell at title chasing Luton

Flynn Downes can become a better player with his loan spell at Luton says Mick McCarthy.

The Academy product, who made his first start for Blues in the Carabao Cup win against the Hatters in August, has joined the League Two high-flyers on loan until the end of the season.

“We have got Stephen Gleeson, Skusey [Cole], Callum [Connolly], Luke Hyam, Kevin Bru, Tristan Nydam as well in midfield,” the Town boss told iFollow Ipswich.

“I’m not saying Flynn has not got the ability to go beyond them but he will be in a better position to do that going forward if he goes and plays games at Luton.

“I said when we played Luton earlier in the season that they would go up and if Flynn can go there and play games and help them go up it will be brilliant for him and for us as well because he will come back and be a better and more accomplished player for it.”
