Town beaten at Playford Road

Shane McLoughlin was on target for Town, but two second-half goals ensured that Charlton would claim all three points at Playford Road this afternoon.

Midfielder James Blanchfield had the first effort on goal in the game as his free-kick with just over 5 minutes on the clock looked like it might have found the net, but for a good save from Addicks' keeper Dillon Phillips.

The Blues took the lead just before the break with McLoughlin turning home from close range after meeting Bailey Clements' cross at the near post.

Ben Morris almost doubled Town's lead on the hour mark, cutting in off the left before getting his shot away, but it clipped the outside of the post and went behind.

Goalkeeper, Nick Hayes had was called into action soon after with Anfernee Dijksteel's shot deflecting off Barry Cotter and flying into the net, but Hayes pulled off a fantastic save to preserve the lead, but not for long.

Charlton levelled soon after with Nicky Ajose's cross making its way to the back post where Josh Umerah was waiting to stab the ball into the back of the net.

The visitors' turnaround was complete with 15 minutes to play. Taylor Maloney let fly from 30 yards, beating Hayes and sneaking into the corner.

Morris almost made it 2-2 in stoppage time, but again he struck the upright, this time his free-kick thumping the post, as Jason Euell's Addicks held on for victory.
