Gleeson and Carter-Vickers impress in Bolton draw
Mick McCarthy had praise for his two new arrivals after Town took a share of the points at Bolton thanks to Joe Garner’s equaliser 10 minutes from time.
Cameron Carter-Vickers started at the Macron Stadium after joining the Club on loan from Tottenham while Stephen Gleeson, a free transfer from Birmingham, impressed after coming on as a half-time substitute.
“It was a fair result after a first-half that was the worst we have been involved with in a long time,” the Town boss told iFollow Ipswich.
“It was a quality goal for the equaliser. We worked it well. It came on the back of us playing well at that time. Waggy hit the post at the end so we could have won it.
“Stephen Gleeson was different class. He was the one that got on the ball and passed it and he was heads and shoulders above anyone at doing that.
“He was fantastic for us and Cameron did great as well. I saw him play for Sheffield United at Bolton. I liked him then and he will get better for us as well.”
Mick expects that to be the end of Town’s business in the transfer window, with Tommy Smith set to join Colorado Rapids in the MLS.
“I think that will be us done. Hopefully we will get a bit of help with players coming back from injury as well,” explained the boss.
