Praise for his side against leaders but boss rues manner of winner

Mick McCarthy saluted his players for staying in the game against the runaway leaders Wolves but was disappointed with the manner of their winner.

Matt Doherty’s header on 15 minutes separated the sides, with Bart Bialkowski making several excellent saves.

“I have no qualms about the result but I do have with the manner of the goal,” the Town boss told iFollow Ipswich.

“We had possession twice and lost it and it ends up in our net. They are dangerous on the break. They are a very good side and when you go a goal down  to them, it’s going to be difficult.

“It gave them the chance to play parasite football, feeding off our mistakes and they are very good at it.

“We kept going to the end though, as we always do. They were first class in the way they kept going and stayed in the game until the end.

“Bart made some terrific saves and that was a snapshot of what he has been like for us. Keeping him for another three years is great news for the Club.”
