A look at Saturday’s clash as Town face Sheffield United in the third round of the FA Cup
FA Cup form
Town are without a win in the FA Cup for eight years, and exited to Lincoln City after a third-round replay in last year’s competition. Having been in League One last season, Sheffield United entered the tournament in the first round and cruised to victory with a 6-0 demolition of Leyton Orient. The Blades exited the following round following a 3-2 defeat away to Bolton.

Chris Basham headed United to victory when the sides last met in October. The English midfielder rose above Town’s Myles Kenlock and nodded in four minutes after half-time, with the one goal proving enough for all three points at Bramall Lane. Martyn Waghorn threatened an immediate equaliser for Mick McCarthy’s side but his curling effort cannoned off the crossbar.
One to watch: Billy Sharp
With Blades expected to make a number of changes to the side that drew against Derby last time out, Billy Sharp may be someone who comes in for Chris Wilder’s side this weekend. The veteran striker is United’s second top scorer with eight goals and has also contributed three assists this campaign.
Could be the difference: Aaron Drinan
New Blue Aaron Drinan is expected to be involved on Saturday, and will no doubt be looking to make an immediate impact in front of the Portman Road faithful.
