Gwion can't wait to get going

Gwion Edwards says he can’t wait for the Blackburn match following his first Portman Road outing in the pre-season friendly against West Ham on Saturday.

Irons ran out 2-1 winners, but Gwion believes there were plenty of positives to take heading into the first game of the Championship campaign this weekend.

”Obviously it was a tough game, they’re a team full of top players, but I think we stood up to them well,” the Welsh winger, who arrived for an undisclosed fee from Peterborough earlier this month, said.

“We made some little mistakes for their goals and I think if we cut those sorts of things out then there is no reason we can’t start the season strongly.

“It was a great atmosphere at the game too and it has given me a buzz for the Blackburn match – I can’t wait for the season to start properly.

“The fans were excellent and I have received a warm welcome from everyone at the Club, both on and off the pitch. Now I’m raring to go.”
