Big crowd expected as Town finish pre-season campaign against Premier League opposition
Paul Hurst is relishing the challenge that West Ham will bring as Town finish the pre-season campaign on Saturday.
Blues host the Premier League club, now managed by former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini at Portman Road, kick-off 3pm.
“We have had more of the ball in the matches we have played so far and while we haven’t blown teams away, we haven’t been tested us much as I would have liked.
“It will be a completely different challenge against West Ham. Players will understand they will have to raise their game against the quality of opposition we face and you can get a better reflection of where we are then.”
Town are likely to be missing Trevoh Chalobah against the Hammers. The Chelsea loanee has been away with the England U19s - along with Town striker Ben Morris - and skippered the team in their 3-0 defeat by Norway on Thursday.
Fellow new recruits, Jordan Roberts, Gwion Edwards and Ellis Harrison are all expected to be involved though.
Tickets for the game are £10 adults; £5 for seniors and U23s; £3 for U19s and £1 for U12s. In the Sir Bobby Robson and Sir Alf Ramsey stands, the lower tier only will be open.
More than 11,000 tickets have already been sold with tickets to home fans available on the day.
