BLUES BENEFIT FROM UNIVERSITY FACILITIES

19 July 2018

Town visit University of Suffolk for fitness analysis

First team players at ITFC have been to the University of Suffolk’s Human Performance Laboratory for pre-season fitness analysis.

Several of the University’s Sport Science degrees are run in partnership with Town but this is the first time the Club has used the facilities with senior squad members.

Newly appointed Sport Scientist at the Club, Nathan Winder, said: “We’re getting some physical data on the lads to give us an overview, see how they are, and what condition they’re in.

“At the end of pre-season we’ll do some more tests and see how well they’ve improved, plus it will give us a marker for the rest of the season.

“It’s great to be using the link with the University. There’s testing and exercises we can do at the training ground but it is fantastic to have the use of these facilities.”

Dr Gavin Devereux, Director of Sport Sciences and Coaching and Dr Marco Beato, Senior Lecturer in Sport Coaching, lead the collaboration between the University and Town.
