Boss on Town's pre-season goals
Paul Hurst says he’s hoping pre-season will provide an opportunity to work on Blues’ team-bonding and improve the squad’s fitness.
Town travel to Spain for a training camp early next month, before playing five friendlies as they prepare to face Blackburn at Portman Road on the opening day of the Championship campaign.
“Pre-season is all about getting ready for what will obviously be a long and hard year,” Paul told iFollow Ipswich.
“We want to be putting programmes in place to maybe give the players a better chance of not picking up some of the injuries they might have suffered in the past.
“Of course we will have some injuries, it’s part and parcel of the game, but we certainly need to try and get players out on the pitch to improve fitness.
“On top of that it’s about getting to know each other, bonding and building relationships. The team spirit should already be there but it will be good to introduce any of the new lads that do come in along the way and make sure we’re ready to go for Blackburn.
“Pre-season isn’t really results based, but I always like to win – whether it’s a friendly or not.”
