Town to host Tony Mowbray's Blackburn Rovers on the opening day of the season

Town will host Blackburn Rovers at Portman Road on the opening day of the 2018/19 season.

The game will take place on the 4th of August with a 3pm kick-off, although this is subject to change.

Rovers, who are managed by former Blues skipper, Tony Mowbray, were promoted back into the Championship at the first attempt after finishing as League One runners-up last campaign.

Town opened with a home game last season as well, with Joe Garner netting the only goal on his competitive debut for the Club in a 1-0 win over Harry Redknapp's Birmingham City.

The last time Rovers came to Portman Road was back in January 2017 as Tom Lawrence scored twice, one of which was a goal of the season contender, and Christophe Berra grabbed the other as Town secured a 3-2 victory.

Town's first away game of the season sees new boss, Paul Hurst face his former side Rotherham United at the New York Stadium
