Boss wants Blues to play on front foot
New Town manager, Paul Hurst, says he wants Blues to be positive and play with energy.
The former Shrewsbury boss was unveiled at Portman Road today, and touched on some of the things he’s looking for from his new squad.
“I want us to be positive. I want us to be on the front foot. I want us to have a go,” Paul told iFollow Ipswich.
“I think it would be foolish to go away from what served me well at previous clubs.
“From day one we’ll be looking at work ethic. I want to try and make it very difficult for the opposition when they have the ball and when we get it I want us to try and pass the ball – that’s important. Possession doesn’t directly translate to winning the game but while you have the ball the opposition can’t score.
“We’ll also introduce a fitness programme, and the sports science side of things has been discussed too. Ultimately the players we have need to be capable of taking on the workload I expect of them.
“I’m excited, though, as there are a lot of good players here already.
“We’ll assess what the best way forward is but I do have a very clear idea of how I would like us to play.”
