Mick satisfied with point after battle with Blades
Mick McCarthy was satisfied enough with a point against Sheffield United in a game he described as a ‘proper Championship match’.
James Wilson hit the post for the visitors while Bersant Celina was just off target with a couple of strikes from distance in closely fought encounter at Portman Road.
“It was a real battle out there,” the Town boss told iFollow Ipswich.
“It wasn’t a great spectacle in terms of football. The pitch doesn’t help that to be honest.
“But it was a proper Championship game. Both teams gave everything and we were both going for it at the end.
“I think we had a good first-half and they were better in the second-half but it’s a point in the pocket and I’ll take it.
“We had to take Dominic [Iorfa] off at the break with a thigh injury and then I changed it at the end and took Jordan Spence off after he went on at half-time.
“He was fantastic for us on Tuesday and it wasn’t his game out there today. That happens but it was more about going three up top and getting Joe [Garner] on than anything else. He was the one I sacrificed to try and win it.”
