'If they play like that then we will win games and we’ll be fine' says proud Paul

Paul Lambert hailed his side’s first-half display as one of the best he has seen from any team he has managed.

Town looked a real threat throughout the first 45 minutes and led at the break through goals from Gwion Edwards and Freddie Sears but a second equaliser eight minutes from time from Yakou Meite gave Reading a share of the points.

“That was one of the best team performances I have seen in my time as a manager in the first-half and that is praise indeed,” the Town boss told iFollow Ipswich.

“We were absolutely outstanding. We played at a really high level and should have been three or four up at half-time. I don’t think anyone would argue with that.

“For an away team to come here and play like that was fantastic. We scored two good goals as well.

“You expect Reading to come back into it and we are disappointed with the second goal but my god, performance wise I’m really proud of them.

“I’ve told the players that if they play like that then we will win games and we’ll be fine.”
