Simpson salutes Blues' U20 contingent

England U20 boss Paul Simpson had praise for Town trio Flynn Downes, Trevoh Chalobah and Andre Dozzell after the 2-0 win over Germany last night.

Trevoh played the full game, Andre an hour while Flynn was a late substitute in what was his debut at that level in the game played at Colchester’s
JobServe Community Stadium.

“All three of them have done really well,” said Simpson.

“Flynn was with us last season for the U19s and unfortunately wasn’t able to join us for the Euro finals, but he was excellent when he was called upon.

“He came as a training player on the last camp and reminded us of what he’s all about. He’s done great.

“He’s really developed physically over the last six to nine months and I think the improvement in Andre from the October camp to now is incredible, so hopefully he’ll keep getting stronger and keep showing the football ability he’s got and keep developing.

“Trevoh Chalobah is on loan at Ipswich as well from Chelsea and they’re getting a great football education at that club and we’re benefitting from it as well.”
