14 November 2018

Town XI beat Walsham-le-Willows on penalties

Blues are into the third round of the Suffolk Premier Cup after overcoming Walsham-le-Willows on penalties last night.

Ryley Scott and Tyreece Simpson were on target for a Town XI as the match ended 2-2 before Adem Atay's side won 5-4 on penalties.

Blues found the breakthrough seven minutes into the second half when Scott cleverly collected the ball before flicking past the Walsham 'keeper from around six yards out.

The hosts struck in the 57th minute before Simpson put Town ahead again nine minutes from time with a smart finish from the edge of the area.

Walsham levelled with a penalty late on, though, after Ross Marshall was penalised for a handball.

Neither side could find a winner and the tie went straight to penalties.

Toby Egan saved Walsham's first effort before Brett McGavin, Scott, Tommy Hughes (pictured), Simpson and Marshall all converted to book Town's place in the third round.
