Dominant display from table-topping Blues
Town U23s secured a 5-2 victory over Crystal Palace this afternoon to remain top of the Professional Development League Two South table.
Shane McLoughlin, Ben Folami (2), Conor McKendry and Kai Brown were on target as Gerard Nash's side cruised to victory at Playford Road.
Blues were on top from the start and found the net after just eight minutes. McKendry's free-kick was parried by Palace 'keeper Joe Tupper and turned in from McLoughlin on the rebound.
And just 12 minutes later the hosts doubled their advantage. McLoughlin was again involved as he found Folami (pictured) at the back post and the Australian made no mistake with a smart first-time effort.
Five minutes before half-time it was three as McKendry capped off a lovely move from Town with a cool finish from the edge of the area.
Palace reduced the deficit just before the break when Kian Flanagan converted from the spot after Idris El Mizouni was penalised for hand ball.
But 10 minutes after the restart Town had a fourth. Brown poked into the net having been found with a low cross from the right.
Blues were smart with possession and limited Palace's chances for the remainder of the game but the away side did score a consolation in the 86th minute as Nick Tavares headed past Town shot-stopper Harry Wright.
Folami wrapped up a dominant display in the dying stages, though, when he fired into the top corner from close range.
The three points leaves Town fives points clear at the top of the table and stretches their unbeaten run to 12 matches.
