BOSS | KILLER SECOND GOAL

24 October 2018

Praise for Pennington as Town go down to league leaders

Paul Hurst said the second goal killed Town’s chances of getting anything from the game at Elland Road.

Goals from Kemar Roofe in the first-half and Liam Cooper midway through the second gave the Whites a 2-0 win and took them back to the top of the table.

“We knew it was going to be a tough evening but we started well enough and got to our first target of 20 minutes but unfortunately not long after that they got their goal,” the Town boss told iFollow Ipswich.

“We felt we were in it at half-time. The second-half was more difficult, we weathered a little bit of a storm and you’re still in it at one down but the second goal is a killer goal. That lifted the pressure off them.

“I felt we had some opportunities but we didn’t quite have that quality to make it count. We did okay without really worrying them too often.

“Matt Pennington was the stand out player for us tonight against a club he was on loan at last year.

"He was on the front foot, defended extremely well, picked out some good passes and can be pleased with his performance.”
