Boss welcomes Andre return to first-team action but duty of care in place
Paul Hurst says having Andre Dozzell on the pitch again was one of the main positives from last night’s defeat to Middlesbrough.
The 19-year-old midfielder came on in the closing stages of the game, his first Championship appearance since sustaining a cruciate ligament injury on the first day of last season.
“It was good to see Doz out there on the pitch,” the Town boss told the Club website.
“He played a couple of really nice balls and he has got that bit of quality about him. Hopefully we can get him really fit and out there playing.
“I said from the start with the long term injury players, especially Doz with the journey he has been on to get to this point, we have a duty of care with him.
“I’m not going to be selfish and ask him to do something that may risk the lad getting injured again and while he has played some 90 minutes for the U23s - and people can judge from afar and say it’s a game - trust me, it’s very different at first-team level.
“That said, it may be a case of giving him a run, especially as we have a two week gap after Saturday.”
