BOSS SEES POSITIVES

29 September 2018

We had leaders out there says Paul after draw at St Andrew's

Paul Hurst took the positives out of the draw at Birmingham in a game Blues could have won or lost.

An excellent first goal for the Club from Jon Nolan and another first goal in Town colours from Matt Pennington put Town two up at the break but Lukas Jutkiewicz’s brace gave the home side a share of the points.

“It was certainly an eventful game. Going in at half-time at two up, you know there is going to be a response from them but we started the second-half on the front foot,” the Town boss told iFollow Ipswich.

“The goal came out of nothing and that obviously gives them a lift. We defended well after that but the second goal was disappointing.

“With the position we are in, we could have folded but I was pleased that we showed some leaders out there and dug in and there was plenty of fight out there.

“I’m glad we got a point out of it in the end because the players deserved that and there were some positive signs out there.”

The boss had little argument with the booking that led to a red card for Pennington late on.

“If Matt blocked him off, then it’s a booking. It’s frustrating obviously and that’s one change we will have to make for Tuesday in what’s going to be a busy week,” he added.
