Close group heading in the right direction says new Blue

Matt Pennington says he has seen enough in his short time at the Club to feel Town have what it takes to move forward quickly.

The 23-year-old defender - Town’s 12th addition to the squad since Paul Hurst took over as manager - has joined Blues on loan from Everton for the season and made his debut in the draw with Norwich just 48 hours after arriving at Portman Road.

“I’ve seen enough on the training ground to believe that things are definitely heading in the right direction,” Matt told the Club website.

“It’s been quite tough over the last week or so and the lads have worked really hard, with some double sessions and a lot of running.

“We’re putting in the hard yards and the lads have an excellent work ethic – that can only stand us in good stead.

“It doesn’t feel like there have been 12 new signings this summer either. I certainly wouldn’t have guessed it from how everyone gets along. I feel like I’ve come into a close group.”
