First day at 'school' for Academy Blues in tie up with St Joseph's College
Town’s U18 Academy scholars joined St Joseph’s College this week as part of a new partnership.
The young Blues will be educated at the school on day release, receiving a tailored Sixth Form educational programme through their scholarship at the Club.
Town’s Academy manager, Lee O’Neill said: ‘We are delighted to be working with St Joseph’s College through the League Football Education Programme, to provide our scholars with a fantastic learning environment, both on and off the pitch.
“St Joseph’s has a proven track record for educating and developing elite athletes and we feel its ability to offer a range of academic provision strengthens young players’ options throughout their football journey.”
St Joseph’s Director of Sport, Anthony O’Riordan, added: ‘We are extremely pleased to be working collaboratively with Ipswich Town Football Club and their U18 scholars as part of the school’s wider sporting vision.
“This innovative regional football focus leads the way within the independent school sector and reinforces the rich, holistic sports offering to our girls and boys as a whole.”
