Blues come from behind to beat Barnsley
Town U18s beat Barnsley 3-1 at Playford Road on Saturday morning.
Idris El Mizouni, Tyreece Simpson and Kai Brown were on target as Adem Atay's side came from behind to secure all three points.
Blues created a handful of early chances but it was the visitors who took the lead 21 minutes in. Central defender Jasper Moon tapped in from less than a yard out after Town 'keeper Toby Egan had initially done well to push a fierce free-kick onto the crossbar.
It remained 1-0 until half time with Henry Barley going closest for the hosts as he was extremely unlucky not to find the net with a curling effort from distance.
Ten minutes after the restart Blues went close again. This time Tommy Hughes was unfortunate not to equalise when he skipped past a defender before seeing his intended crossclip the underside of the crossbar.
Town continued to press, though, and were rewarded for their efforts in the 65th minute. El Mizouni bundled the ball over the line following pin ball in the Barnsley penalty area.
Five minutes later the comeback was complete. Substitute Simpson beat Tykes shot-stopper Henry Kendrick with a superb shot from range that nestled into the top corner.
Brown sealed the victory by adding a third in the dying stages. The tricky forward beautifully brought down a long ball before darting into the penalty area and flicking the ball past Kendrick with the outside of his right boot.
Atay's side are in action again when they travel to Burnley next Saturday.
