Young Blues bow out of play-offs
Town U18s were beaten 1-0 by Sheffield Wednesday in the Professional Development League Two play-off semi-final this morning.
A penalty from Wednesday's Connor Grant was enough to see the hosts to victory in a tight contest at Hillsborough.
Blues started brightly but it was the Owls who created the first genuine chance of the game. Elliott Vasalo curled in a dangerous cross but Charles Hagan couldn't quite connect.
The hosts did take the lead, though, when Grant converted from the penalty spot following a foul on Josh Dawodu.
Tyreece Simpson twice came close to levelling for Blues but he saw an effort fly over the crossbar before being denied by Wednesday 'keeper Josh Render who saved low to his right.
It remained that way until half-time, but the hosts came close to doubling their advantage shortly after the restart. Lewis Farner and Liam Waldock combined to set up Grant, but he curled well over the bar.
Town pressed in the latter stages, but were unable to break down the Owls defence.
