Midfielder pleased with team performance but disappointed to only take a point against Black Cats

Flynn Downes was left frustrated following Town's 1-1 draw with Sunderland at Portman Road, and viewed the result as two points dropped for Blues.

Paul Lambert's side took the lead in the 15th minute thanks to Luke Garbutt's second goal in two matches, but failed to put the game to bed and were made to pay as Lynden Gooch struck for the Black Cats in the second half to share the spoils.

"In the first half we had them right where we wanted them," the midfielder told iFollow Ipswich.

"We were playing to their weaknesses and should have scored more. In the end it came back to punish us.

"It was an intense match but I do feel like we deserved to win the game. They're a big club and a good team and we knew we were in for a fight.

"But I thought we played well so I'm frustrated we couldn't get the win. We have to move on, though, and prepare for a tough test at Luton on Tuesday."
