"I don’t think we deserved to win but we didn’t deserve to lose either”
Paul Lambert felt Town deserved a point after Luke Chambers maintained Blues’ unbeaten start to the league season with an equaliser in added on time.
The skipper headed in from a corner after James Norwood’s early goal had been trumped by strikes either side of the break from Ivan Toney and Mo Eisa.
Christy Pym saved Norwood’s penalty which looked the crucial moment until Chambers' late intervention.
“I think it was a fair result in the end,” the Town boss told iFollow Ipswich.
“We started the game really well. We got the goal and then I think we took our foot of the gas.
“It was a bad goal for us to concede, their first one. Tomas [Holy] has made a big save early in the second-half and then we got caught out again.
“James has had the chance from the penalty. The ‘keeper made a good save but Norwood will score goals for us, don’t worry about that.
“I think if we had scored then we would have gone on but to the credit of the lads, they kept going until the end.
“Tomas gave them a problem when he went up for the corner in the last minute and it’s a great header from Chambers.
“The important thing is that we stay unbeaten. I don’t think we deserved to win but we didn’t deserve to lose either.”
