“The young lads will be better for it. It’s a learning curve for them. They didn’t let anyone down”
Paul Lambert had no arguments with the result but picked out some positives including Armando Dobra’s display in Town’s Carabao Cup defeat at Luton.
The Academy graduate marked his debut with a goal late on after the Hatters had taken control with goals from Lloyd Jones, a penalty from Elliot Lee after Josh Emmanuel was judged to have brought down the scorer and a free-kick from Andrew Shinnie.
“They deserved to win but there were some really good things for us as well,” the Town boss told iFollow Ipswich.
“I’m not sure it was a penalty. I’ll have to have another look at it but we kept going. We had to make changes and we had a young team. Dobra did great. Bailey Clements had a tough time first-half but was much better in the second. Emyr Huws made his first start in two years, Gwion Edwards did well having not had any minutes at all in pre-season.
“The young lads will be better for it. It’s a learning curve for them. They are training to be footballers and didn’t let anyone down.”
