Nolan completes 45 minutes but Blues open campaign with defeat

Town U23s fell to a 2-1 defeat against Hull City in their opening game of the Professional Development League Two season.

Jon Nolan, who had been sidelined with a calf injury, completed 45 minutes for Gerard Nash's side, with Tyreece Simpson netting Blues' goal at the Roy West Centre.

First half strikes from Keane Lewis-Potter and Tyler Hamilton saw the Tigers take a two goal lead into the break, but Simpson reduced the deficit 11 minutes after the restart.

Blues pressed for an equaliser and went close in the dying stages but Hull shot-stopper Charlie Andrew was able to deny Lounes Foudil and secure all three points for his side.

The U23s are next in action when they face Leeds United at Playford Road on Friday, 23 September [kick-off 1pm].

Town: Wright, Cotter, Fehrenbach, Ndaba (C), Smith, Trialist (Gibbs 79'), Nolan (Scott 45'), Foudil, Crowe (Z Brown 67'), K Brown, Simpson. Subs not used: Bort, Baggott.
