"Three points and the momentum will start again and then we will be fine"

Flynn Downes says one win will trigger a run for Town as Blues look to get back on track against Gillingham on Boxing Day.

Paul Lambert’s side suffered a second successive league defeat against Portsmouth at the weekend to drop out of the top two - only on  goal difference - for the first time since August.

“We do need to get back to winning ways, we know that but we are still in a very good position,” Flynn told iFollow Ipswich.

“The confidence is very much there. I know people are going to get frustrated because the results have dropped off but I think it looks worse because of the start we had.

“We were six points clear with games in hand and flying but every team is going to have a bad run now and again. I think we just need that one win and the momentum will start again and then we will be fine.

“We know the expectations are there this season and we have to deal with that.”
