BOSS | NOWHERE NEAR GOOD ENOUGH

10 December 2019

"That is the worst we have been in my time here" says Paul after cup exit

Paul Lambert said it was the worst performance in his time as Town boss after watching his side go out of the FA Cup to Coventry.

The Sky Blues fully deserved their win with first-half goals from Jordan Shipley and Max Biamou putting them in command before Luke Garbutt’s late goal gave Town a lifeline.

“We were poor. That is the worst we have been in my time here,” the Town boss told iFollow Ipswich.

“The performance was nowhere near it. It would have been unjust if we had sneaked an equaliser. They were better than us and deserved to win.

“We never did anything right. We were miles off the basics of the game. We were miles off the intensity and if you don’t do the basics right, you can’t win any game.

“We were slightly better in the second-half but sometimes in football you have games where it doesn’t happen for you and tonight we were poor, really poor and got what we deserved.

“The players have been great for me and I’m not going to let one game cloud my judgment but that wasn’t good enough out there.”
